Year 6 Orientation day

On December 9th the new cohort of Year 7 students for 2015 arrived. They spent the day working through a variety of activities, to help them familiarise themselves with the lay-out of the school, the classrooms they will be in next year, and the key staff who will be looking after them. They also met with their Peer Support leaders, who will be in Year 11 next year. This dedicated group of senior students recently underwent special training to assist them with the challenges that leading their groups of Year 7 students will bring.The day centred around helping the new students of the school to settle in, so that the first day of the new year should not feel so daunting for them. It was a chance to make new friends, and to see what a typical day in the life of McKinnon Secondary College is like.
