Year 7 Geography excursion

Pooh and more pooh! That was the first word I thought of when I heard we were going to the Werribee Western Treatment Plant. But once you get over the fact that the place is full of stuff you flush down your toilet it really is a very interesting place to visit.

We got to learn all about exactly what happens to waste once it reaches the plant. We learnt what is the difference between sewage and sewerage and that Melbourne, because of the plant is the largest producer of recycled water in Australia.

We  also learnt heaps about ways we can save water like having water tanks and minimize urban surface runoff into our waterways by adding things like rain gardens to our down pipes.

All in all going to the Werribee Western Treatment Plant was a great experience and we learnt loads.
