Senior Music Concert

The Senior Concert took place on Tuesday September 15th in the school hall in front of an enthusiastic audience and featured the final McKinnon school performance for many of our talented year 12 students. The concert opened with the Symphonic Wind Band under the splendid baton of Ms Su Rogerson performing selections from their repertoire. A most enjoyable highlight was Dance Fever which had the audience jumping.

Following on was the Orchestra conducted by Ms Tracy Videon with sensational performances of March Militaire Francaise by Saint-Saens andMinuet and Farandole from L’Arlesienne Suite no. 2 by Bizet.

Blanka West directed the Choir in a sublime rendition of “Falling Slowly” from Once featuring a chamber string ensemble. The grand finale of the evening was a glorious interpretation of Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus from The Messiah featuring the choir and orchestra supported by several staff members and a guest appearance by internationally acclaimed singer and past student, Elana Xanthoudakis.

The night was a presentation of marvellous music by the three main core ensembles for senior music students and a fitting tribute to our departing year 12 musicians for their participation and involvement over their time at McKinnon.
