Year 8 Geography Fieldwork

What kind of new residential development would a student in Year 8 plan? This was the context of fieldwork for the day. Students visited Beacon Cove, Port Melbourne taking in the high rise modern apartments on the coastal promenade and then to the stylish town houses sitting behind. 
Students were kept busy measuring street width, house frontages and identifying the style of the houses.

From there they travelled to their 'development site' - a blank canvas under the Bolte Bridge. We followed this by a thorough examination of South Wharf's latest residential location: Yarras Edge a MIRVAC development. Landscape design, streetscape and sustainability were of key interest to the budding planners!

So what plans have they come up with? You will have to wait and see just like me!
