Vocal Night

On Thursday 27 April, the first Vocal Night of the year was held. The night kicked off with a great performance from the Choir, who sang 'Alle, Alle, Alle', a Jamaican folk song, and 'The Edge of Glory' by Lady Gaga, with solo sung by Kate Collier. Our MC’s Gabby Etlis and Rony Olesh introduced the array of solos performed by the many talented vocal students. The styles performed ranged from musical theatre to jazz to golden oldies, and even an originally written and composed song (written by Chloe James herself), leaving the audience entranced by the skills the students had showcased.

Just before interval, four Year 9 Girls (Phoebe Lock, Caroline Monroe, Talia Raman and Clare Wever) did an amazing rendition of 'Someone In The Crowd' from La La Land with fabulous choreography by Phoebe. During the interval, the ANTIPODEANS team, led by Ebony Lockton, provided refreshments for the audience and participants. The second half consisted of our Year 11 and 12 Music Student performances, which continued to maintain the high standard. The night closed with a very professional performance from the Senior Singers, who sang 'Over the Rainbow' by Harold Arlen, with solos by Clare Wever and Caroline Monroe, and the rousing 'Amazing Grace' with solo by Chloe James. Yet again, the lighting and sound crew led by Nick Xanthoudakis did a brilliant job, and the stage manager, Mrs Ford kept us on our toes. And of course, the night would not have been possible without the efforts of Ms Papworth and Ms West, to whom all the participants were extremely grateful.
