| The surf was up, the sun was out and the McKinnon Secondary College Swimming Carnival 2000 was off to a great start. As usual we ran with a theme and this year it was Surfing USA. This proved to be extremely popular with the students who arrived in a profusion of floral Hawaiian shirts, laes, sarongs, grass skirts and board shorts. Staff also have to be congratulated on their resplendent attire especially the size and style of sun hats. For the first year in three, the weather was kind to us with brilliant sunshine the order of the day. This encouraged a very good participation and attendance level. A number of students had multiple wins on the day. They were Mara Zilberman and A'kos Szabo Year 12, Sara Baxter and Nicole Creaser Year 11, Jessica Kallergis and Daniel Balog Year 9, Joshua Fotopoulos and Sarah Pincott Year 8, Luke Morrison Year 7. Final results were Monash 752, Flynn 667, Chisholm 567 and Gilmore 516. Thankyou to the House Captains for their efforts and also to the staff who all helped to make our Surfing Carnival a great success. |
