This raunchy musical is written by the composers
of ‘Cabaret’ and choreographed by Bob Fosse. “All That Jazz” is the
most famous number from the show, but all the music is brilliant and
full of toe-tapping charisma throughout; no wonder it won six Tony awards!
Musicians and dancers clamour to be part of it.
Based on a 1925 play it is a tale “of murder,
greed, corruption, exploitation, adultery and treachery - all those
things we hold near and dear to our hearts…”, and the black humour doesn’t
stop there. It will make you laugh and cry. It is not a show for the
overly modest, or the very young due to the adult themes in the script,
costumes and choreography.
Staff and students are putting in a huge amount
of effort for your enjoyment. Photos are from a recent school assembly
performance of “All That Jazz” and the seductive “Cell Block Tango”.
The production of this show features budding
young choreographer, Kiah Preston who graduated last year and was a
Dance Styles student (as well as having been School Captain!). Her choreography
is visually stunning and titillating.
The show has a brilliant cast of students whose
voices, personalities, dance and acting skills suit their parts perfectly.
Main roles include: Velma Kelly played by Danielle Matthews; Roxie Hart
played by Kellie Sherwood; Billy Flynn played by Johnny Harrop; Amos
Hart played by Lucas Richter; Matron ‘Mama’ Morton played by Sarah Baxter
and the dulcet tones of Mary Sunshine emanating from the one and only
I.R.Nisbet.
There are six other sexy prisoners played by Lauren Harrop, Abi Singer,
Cara Norden (this year’s School Captain), Samantha Levy, Melissa Poynton,
and Tanya Skvortsova, as well as many others. A group of specialist
dancers and a chorus of thirty complete the company. Buy
some tickets and ENJOY!
