Beachside Cross Country Championships 2005

On Thursday, 26th May 2005, McKinnon students visited Mordialloc Secondary College to compete in the Beachside Cross Country Championships.

All 119 students ran extremely well with all our teams coming in the top 4 for their race.

Highlights for the day were Simone winning the girls U21 race, Felix wining the same race for the boys and the U16 boys winning the team event.

Other individual podium finishers were Genevieve (U16 girls), Michael (U16 boys) and Aki (U14 boys), who all came third in their respective races.

Both the boys and girls teams came 2nd, resulting in McKinnon coming first overall! The team results were:

Boys U13 – 3rd
Boys U14 – 3rd
Boys U15 – 2nd
Boys U16 – 1st
Boys U21 – 2nd
Girls U13 – 4th
Girls U14 – 4th
Girls U15 – 2nd
Girls U16 – 2nd
Girls U21 – 2nd

A great day was had by all and we now eagerly await to see who has made it through to the Southern Zone Championships, on the 20th July.

COBURG CROSS COUNTRY

On the 4th June, 16 students from McKinnon, gave up their Saturday morning to represent the school and run a 3km Cross Country course at Coburg. The results and teams were as follows:

Under 14 Boys 6th out of 19 teams
(Darby, Jack, Scott and Bryce)

Under 16 Boys 8th out of 30 teams
(Josh, Ben, Chris and Reuben)

Under 14 Girls 17th out of 20 teams
(Ellen, Alex, Julia and Julia)

Under 16 Girls 19th out of 28 teams
(Jess, Jordana, Alex and Stephanie)

All 4 teams did extremely well, as the event was open to all Victorian secondary schools, both state and private. In fact, Mckinnon were the only State school present!
