The McKinnon Railway Station Mural |
|
Art students from McKinnon S.C. began designing the mural for the car park at McKinnon Railway Station, at the end of 2005. An ex student, James Beattie, who now works as an artist, helped us with our design and the mural. Our Local Member of Parliament, Mr Rob Hudson, organised funding for the materials through a grant from Connex. When we ran out of paint for whitewashing the walls, Paul Ciccarella from R & N Building Services came to the rescue and kindly donated paint for us to use. (Thank you so much.) Despite the hot days, we had a great time spraying the walls, but we were all surprised at how difficult it is to control the paint flow and achieve an even finish. Adding detail was really difficult and required our expert, James. Students who worked on the mural were Erica, Ben and Brielle of Year 9, Lyrie, Bianca, Jacqui, Stas, Jess and Michelle of Year 10, Ame and Lachy of Year 11, Tom, Sam and Daniel of Year 12, and last year’s Year 12 students, Tim and Alex.
