Aths Sports 2007 |
'Twas windy with occasional sunny outbursts, with nary a spot of precipitation... a perfect day to choose for the McKinnon Secondary College 2007 Athletics Sports Carnival. Led by Mr Bustin, the theme was MY HERO. Many people ran, threw and jumped. I took pictures of them. All in all, a jolly nice day. |
On Tuesday 7th August, the students made their way across to Duncan MacKinnon for the school’s third and final carnival of the year – the Athletics Carnival. The big question everyone was asking was could the green house of Monash make it 6 carnival wins from 6, and create sporting history at McKinnon Secondary College. The theme this year was “My Hero”, with students coming dressed as their own hero. Characters such as Collingwood F.C.’s own “Straunie”, Ben Cousins, Shane Warne, the Incredibles and the Power Rangers were all seen competing in the various events and gaining valuable points for their house, as well as having fun in the process! After the usual array of athletic events on offer, along with the staff v student relay and McKinnon’s own “80-80 Relay”, the results were in and it was announced that the Flynn house had put an end to Monash’s run of victories. Congratulations must go to all students that braved the tough winds and gave it their best, along with the members of Flynn for winning their first carnival in 4 years. The top student in each event will now go on to the Beachside Championships, held in a few weeks, to see how they go against other students in the district.
