On Tuesday October 23, the year 8 students gathered at the hall to compete in the Maths Survivor competition for 2007. Organised into Pacific island teams, and given roles like runners, readers, writers and timers, they engaged in a fast and furious series of maths puzzles to determine the maths survivor for the year.
In charge were Mr Manolas, Mrs Woods and Mr Buntman, who adds:
The winning teams came from 8D and 8B. The competition was extremely strong, with the results being finalised in the last session of the day with only a few points between first and third. It was great to see all year 8 students racing to collect another maths problem, and taking great care in solving it to gain maximum points. |
