Beachside Cross Country
Championships 2007

On Friday, 25th May 2007, McKinnon students visited Karkarook Park to compete in the Beachside Cross Country Championships. The new venue obviously suited McKinnon students as the school had its most successful championships to date. 137 students from the school competed (a new school record), with 7 members finishing on the podium (again, a new record). Highlights for the day were Madeleine Begala winning the girls U21 race, James Knee winning the boys U13 event, and 5 of the 10 teams coming in first position, with the other 5 teams coming in second!!! The individual podium finishers are listed below:

2nd - Ali Hameed (U14 boys)
2nd - Brendan Dawes (U15 boys)
2nd – Adam Copolov (U16 boys)
2nd – Michelle Liacos (U13 girls)
3rd - Austin Deneys (U13 boys)

Overall, the boys came in first place with the girls coming in second, resulting in McKinnon winning its 4th beachside Championship in succession.

A great day was had by all and we now begin training for the Southern Zone Championships, to be held on the 19th of July, in which 44 McKinnon students have qualified to compete.
