Hockey 1 Hockey 2 Hockey 3 – what a season we have had !!!!

STATE CHAMPIONS 2008! – Year 8 Boys
STATE RUNNERS UP! – Intermediate Girls
THIRD IN THE STATE! – Year 8 girls

Winners are Grinners~!!.  Being crowned State Champions is a dream come true for the fabulous squad of  15 Year 8 boys.  Their hearts were set on settling for nothing but No.1 after last year’s misfortune. Having sailed through the Beachside and Southern Zone rounds comfortably with only their coaches health to worry about– they were geared up for a tough campaign at State level. And the competition didn’t disappoint - every game was hard fought beating Mullauna 2-1, Chaffey 6-0 and Nhill 2-0 to won their pool.

The Grand final was against St Helena – their old rivals.  With clever coaching from  Assistant Coach John Hooper the boys rallied in the dying minutes of the game to equalise 2 all.  It was then down to penalty strokes to decide the winner.  With Lucas Ground stopping 4 penalties and James, Jarni, Matt, Jeremy converting – Mckinnon WON 5-1 on penalties!!!  The win was huge and a well deserved result for all the team who displayed legend Tommy Hafey’s 4 Ds all day – Desire, Discipline, Determination and Dedication to have their dream come true.
