The $6m Building Grant |
On Wednesday 7 May 2008, we were happy to hear that the hard work by Mrs Binnion and others had paid off, and the Minister of Education had agreed to grant McKinnon Secondary College $6,000,000 for major building works - starting with the replacement of A-Block. The minister visited the school on the same day to formally announce the news. |
Mrs Binnion's report: BUDGET FUNDING FOR MCKINNON McKinnon Secondary College has been allocated 6 million dollars by the Government in their 2008-2009 budget. Last week the Minister of Education, the Honourable Bronwyn Pike, and our local member for Bentleigh, Rob Hudson MLA, visited our school to officially make the announcement. Graeme Sayce, our School Council President, our School Captains and the Principals were all present to hear the terrific news. This decision by the Department allows the school to begin our extensive renovation of ‘A’ block as proposed through our Building Futures plan. The money will allow us to construct a new two storey building, encompassing a state of the art, flexible learning area for our Year 7s and a new administration to be located at the front of the school - new permanent facilities that reflect the excellence that is already a tradition at our college. We are all absolutely delighted. On behalf of our school community I wish to thank and acknowledge Rob Hudson for his ongoing support and hard work in securing funds for improvement at McKinnon Secondary College. |
