SCHOOL CAPTAINS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • To represent the school at formal occasions.
  • To accompany the Principal when required, to various ceremonies/meetings in which the school is participating.
  • To deputise for the Principal on occasions at meetings involving the School.
  • To assist in hosting guests at the School on special occasions.
  • To chair senior school student leadership meetings.
  • To contribute to student awareness of their responsibilities regarding the physical and attitudinal environment of the school.
  • Work with senior school staff to engender enthusiasm and support the ethos of the school.

ABILITIES REQUIRED BY SCHOOL CAPTAIN and VICE CAPTAIN:

  • A demonstrated commitment to the ethos and traditions of the School.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Articulate, confident and able to convey a good public image.
  • A proven ability to confer with adults.
  • Have a strong academic record.
  • A demonstrated ability to obtain the support of the student body.

  • APPOINTMENT OF THE SCHOOL CAPTAIN and VICE CAPTAIN:

    The School Captain/Vice Captain will be an appointed position.

    Eligibility of candidates:

    • Be a Year 12 student
    • Written application is made to a selection panel

    The written application should address the job description and statement of abilities required for the position. Selection is based on written submission and interview. A short listing for interview is determined from written submissions.

    The Selection panel consists of :

    • Head of Senior School
    • Student Managers
    • A Student Nominee (nominations called for on Orientation Day)
