McKinnon Secondary College has a reputation for academic excellence and
is a specialist music school.
Most students who attend McKinnon aspire to university. The vast majority of our students gain tertiary placements each year. Most of these placements are university courses. See a summary of our recent VCE results. The ELMS (Enhanced Learning in Mathematics/Science)
program for
gifted talented students in Mathematics & Science was introduced at
Year 7 in 1998.

Inside the gym: an outstanding contemporary indoor sports complex Physical Education is taught at years 7 - 12 in outstanding facilities. Sport Education from Years 7 - 9. Many McKinnon students are in state training squads. House sports are a major feature, such as the swimming and athletics carnivals. |

One of our 6 computer labs (including dedicated labs for music and LOTE). We have around 300 networked PCs and Macs and a 4Mbps ADSL internet pipeline over fibre optic. There are e-mail accounts for all staff and students. Our library catalogue is tied to our intranet and is available to all college computers. All classrooms have network connections. We have a strong web presence - 400 megabytes online, including on-line anthologies, studies, guides, college information, and regular photo galleries. McKinnon SC is a pioneer in the teaching of Korean French and German are also taught Hebrew and Russian taught after school by the Vic School of Languages Facilities include a specialist language computer laboratory.
