McKinnon Secondary College has a reputation for academic excellence and is a specialist music school. McKinnon is: investing heavily in middle-years education, such as our MERC centre and BYTES program. a leading Access Asia school in Victoria since 1993 a member of the International Schools Project (ISP) involved in interschool debating Most students who attend McKinnon aspire to university. The vast majority of our students gain tertiary placements each year. Most of these placements are university courses. See a summary of our recent VCE results. The ELMS (Enhanced Learning in Mathematics/Science) program for gifted talented students in Mathematics & Science was introduced at Year 7 in 1998. 	A view between C block and the relocatables. While relocatables are not ideal work places, there are covered walkways to all these rooms. The new Technology Centre replaced some of these relocatables.
	The new play area that used to be bike racks. We aim to make the grassed areas more enjoyable, especially in wet weather.
	2008: It's not pretty, but the resurfacing of the oval wil result in a top-quality grassed play area for students.

	To address the issues of sun exposure, we are installing more and more shaded recreation areas.

	2008: The tennis courts are soon to be renoved with a quality artificial surface.
	Inside the gym: an outstanding contemporary indoor sports complex Physical Education is taught at years 7 - 12 in outstanding facilities. Sport Education from Years 7 - 9. Many McKinnon students are in state training squads. House sports are a major feature, such as the swimming and athletics carnivals.
	The newly-enlarged VCE centre, the home of our year 12s. Most students who attend McKinnon aspire to university. Most of our year 12 students go on to tertiary education, usually university courses.

	One of our 6 computer labs (including dedicated labs for music and LOTE). We have around 300 networked PCs and Macs and a 4Mbps ADSL internet pipeline over fibre optic. There are e-mail accounts for all staff and students. Our library catalogue is tied to our intranet and is available to all college computers. All classrooms have network connections. We have a strong web presence - 400 megabytes online, including on-line anthologies, studies, guides, college information, and regular photo galleries. 	The Korean Garden. McKinnon SC is a pioneer in the teaching of Korean French and German are also taught Hebrew and Russian taught after school by the Vic School of Languages Facilities include a specialist language computer laboratory. 	The music auditorium. McKinnon is famous for its instrumental music programme and performers. Read up on McKinnon's Instrumental Music Programme.
	One of the music rehearsal studios. Over 450 students learn an instrument. There are numerous bands, ensembles, choirs and string groups. Music theory and practice are taught from years 7-12. 	The new walkway connects C block to the main corridor, alleviating years of human traffic congestion during period changes.
