General Assembly 20/5/15

The second term two general assembly took place on the 20th of May.

The Assembly was opened with the National Anthem performed by the Symphonic Wind Band with Vocalist Jack Ryan. The Symphonic Wind Band was conducted by Ms Su Rogerson. The Symphonic Wind Band then performed Dance Fever by Michael Brown.

The 2015 Senior School Council Representative Emily Holding and Deputy School Captain Nic Chapman led the assembly.


The Victorian State Parliamentary Member for Bentleigh, Mr Nick Staikos then made a special announcement about the recent funding McKinnon has received. A  total of $9 Million has been given to McKinnon in this budget.

Mrs Binnion then presented her always inspring Principal's address.

Ms Papworth then presented an award to senior students for a battle of the bands competition. This was presented to the 'Son of Daniel' band.

Tali Pinkus, Gilmore house captain then presented a report on the senior girls tennis state finals.

Ms Hatch as well reported on the international Bebras computational thinking challenge.

Assistant Principal, Mr Evans then discussed student safety issues

There were many presentations throughout the assembly, including a German exchange program report and a presentation on the recent legal studies and politics trip to Canberra presented by George Harte and Tom Kreiser.

Year 12 students, Emily Holding and David Yarrow then promoted the upcoming musical production, Little Shop of Horrors.

The assembly was then concluded by Mr Evans
