Girls Football

On Thursday the 28th of July, 17 girls piled into a bus trying to escape the freezing cold winter morning.

Ready to face the challenging day ahead, the mood in the bus was excited yet focused. For many of the girls this was the first time that they will play footy, for others this was an annual occasion.

After a 45 minute bus ride to J & P Cam Reserve, Cranbourne, the girls were ready.

The first match against Keysborough was a tough one, with them arriving late, giving us a 6 goal lead and subsequently the win.

With the first game under our belt, the team was ready to face our number 1 rivals, Frankston/Mornington. A 2 hour break between our first game and the next meant an analysis of Frankston’s leading players, including 2 state players!

We had a gruelling 40 minute game, but unfortunately finished below Frankston and missing out on a chance in the finals. We put up a good fight and everyone put in all their effort which really shone through in the game. We’d like to give a massive thank you to Mr Verlin for coming out and coaching us on the day and holding some quality training sessions.
