Visit from Monash Materials Engineers

To celebrate Science Week, the Year 11 Chemistry and Physics students were visited by several representatives of the Materials Science and Engineering Department of Monash University this week.  The senior and postgraduate students gave an impressive presentation/workshop on the ground breaking work of this internationally renowned department. Our students saw a jet engine made from titanium, aluminium and alloys that had been 3D printed by the Monash students.  They were able to handle many of the other great 3D printed materials and objects that the students from Monash are currently developing from a range of plastics and alloys and also new types of printed solar panels, which hold enormous promise. We thank Lee, Tyson and Kira for making the time to come and visit us and Professor Nick Birbilis for organising the visit.
