Senior Music Concert

On May 17th, McKinnon’s more experienced musicians gathered in the hall to present the first of our ensemble concerts for 2017. It was a very busy night for many individual student performers as well as being an enjoyable and entertaining evening for an enthusiastic audience. The varied and full program included performances from many of the school’s senior performing ensembles.

Opening the concert was the Ovenden Band splendidly conducted by Tracy Videon. Other large ensembles to perform were the Orchestra, also conducted by Tracy Videon and the Symphonic Wind Band conducted by Su Rogerson. The evening also featured several chamber ensembles; Clarinet Choir, conducted by Jamie Morrisey; Saxophone Quartet directed by Martin West, the String Quartet directed by Clare Bugeja and the Senior Singers, directed by Blanka West. The Senior Stage Band and the direction of Dmitry Serebrianik presented a dynamic set to close the evening.

It was a wonderfully musical night celebrating some multi-talented performers and some excellent ensemble playing.
