Year 7 and 8 Badminton

On Monday 24 July, the Year 7 and 8 Boys and Girls Badminton teams went to Springers to compete in the SSV Prelim Finals against Keysborough College Banksia campus. The winner of the match would progress to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals.
The Year 7 Boys team consisted of Aaron Zachariah, Praneet Akula, Jun Lee and Harsh Sharma. It was very tough competition and they lost their match 5 sets – 1 set.The Year 7 Girls team that consisted of Victoria Sinyavker, Surina Chakroavorty, Joanna Lee, Chloe Shin and Yuxi Zhao had better fortunes. They drew their singles but came out winners as they both won their doubles matches!! The Year 8 Boys team didn't end up as fortunate losing 4-2. The team consisted of Dylan MacGregor, Connorand Lachlan Truong, Haans Dinu, Yandong She and Terry Tian. The Year 8 Girls team of Anoushka Dinesh, Jennifer Jung, Joanne Yuan, Lina Nguyen, Amanda Wu and Lizzie Seo tried their best but found couldn't win a game.
Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable morning. Congratulations to the Year 7 Girls who now progress onto the Southern Metro Finals on Friday 4 August. The winners of the SMR will head into the State Finals. Go Girls! Go McKinnon!! Jiakai Thing (Year 10)Linda Nguyen (Year 10)
