Asia Week

From September 18 to 22, during the last week of Term 3, McKinnon Secondary College celebrated its 23rd annual Asia Week. As always, we must thank staff and students for getting involved and we have to make particular mention of the organiser, Ms Nayar, for making this whole week possible and enjoyable. Ms Nayar organised a full week of delicious Asian food, engaging displays and enjoyable activities for the whole school.

The week started with the staff dress up. They looked amazing all throughout the week in their traditional Asian clothes. We were also able to enjoy sushi and other delicious Asian foods at lunchtime each day. Some talented students created breathtaking posters that were dotted around the school advertising the week to come.

Breakfast Clubbers participated in Asian games and fitness, which was followed by Henna hand painting and Asian board games at lunch time. The enthusiastic Year 7s enjoyed a Bollywood dance workshop. Many got involved in some very entertaining karaoke and some tested their knowledge in an Asian themed quiz. Students and staff also attended a free rice paper roll-making workshop, where they got to eat their creation. Year 8s also got to take part in a valuable self-defence class. This year’s Asia Week was another fantastic success, all thanks to the hard work of everyone who was involved, especially Mrs Nayar! We encourage everyone to take part in the great activities offered in next year’s Asia week!
