Year 7 ICT Lego Mindstorm EV3 Robots

All our wonderful Year 7 classes have been taking part in a great experiential learning exercise. Working with the Lego Mindstorm EV3 robots is very much learning through experience and the students have enjoyed this greatly.

Working in pairs, the students have been learning to write short programs to make their robot move, turn and even follow a shape. They have had to try and test their programs, experiment with different settings and values when it doesn’t work and generally work out for themselves how to complete the many challenges set.

After so much time working apart this year, it has been great to see the students learning together and cooperating with each other, even if the class noise volume has increased significantly!

For students who have particularly enjoyed this experience, they might want to consider taking Robotics in Year 9 where they will learn to construct, test and explore the EV3 robot in much more depth.
