Victorian School Sports Awards


On Wednesday 27th March 2 of our students were invited to the MCG where they were recognised for their outstanding achievements in Sport.

The Sporting Blues Award is the highest accolade awarded by School Sport Victoria.

I am delighted to announce that Sam Kay and Riva Guliya were selected for these awards.

Sam is an outstanding Volleyball player who while representing school has won silver and gold medals at the Vic Open, Beach Volleyball State Cup, and the Victorian State Cup. Sam also represented Team Vic at the School Sport Australia Championships where the team won a Bronze medal. Sam has been selected to be part of the Australian Volleyball Academy based at the Australian Institute of Sport. Internationally, Sam has represented Australia in Thailand as part of the U17 National Junior Squad and has played games in Canberra against touring teams from New Zealand and Japan. Sam’s Volleyball achievements go from strength to strength as does his willingness to give back to the school. Sam is an ambassador for the Volleyball club inspiring younger students by assisting in the coaching programmes.

Riva is an outstanding Cricket player who was Captain of the Victorian under 12 girls cricket team 2021. She also represented the Southeast Breakers team to play in the youth Premier League in 2022 organised by Cricket Victoria. Riva was selected in the Victorian under 14 indoor cricket team and will play nationals in July 2022. She was also a member of the premiership winning team for the Southeast cricket Association 2021; Brighton District Cricket Club Senior Women’s. Riva has been awarded numerous batting and bowling awards in 2021& 2022 at Bentleigh Cricket club and East Malvern Cricket club for under 13 girls, under 16 girls and the under 12 mixed team. In addition to her Cricket success Riva was also awarded the SSV award for academic and sporting achievement in her primary school in 2021.

Congratulations to these 2 students on their exceptional achievements. They are true ambassadors for Sport within our community.
