Year 7 Art and English excursion
- 6 Nov 2014
The English component sees them responding to a variety of artworks with one of the gallery’s education officers. They look at metaphors, similes and haiku’s as a means of creatively responding to art. The students are taken to many areas of the gallery and shown work from various collections ranging from modern contemporary work, to ancient relics and artifacts.
The second half of the day sees students partake in a practical workshop in the gallery’s studio. Here students get the opportunity to practically apply the knowledge they learnt earlier in the day. They do a range of activities such as collage, printmaking, drawing and calligraphy.
Many of the students practical work is on display at the annual art show for parents to see the work they have been doing on their excursion to the gallery.
