Senior Boys and Girls Cricket

Senior Boys Cricket
"Fortunate indeed this field;
It’s destiny is not to yield
A harvest made with wheat and corn
From rutting plough or harrow born,
But cleared of lump & stump & thicket
Is set aside for playing cricket."

On Thursday 12th February, King George Reserve was set aside for this wonderful pastime, playing cricket.
The Senior Boys cricket team gathered at the hallowed turf, where a history of McKinnon legends had strutted their stuff.
The scorebook, told a story of old McKinnon stalwarts, with names like McCooke, Halliday and Schwarz littered throughout.

This year it just wasnt meant to be. After belting 82 off 8 overs in the first match against Parkdale, we went out in the field with our tails up but unfortunately some heavy hitting from the Parkdalians handed them the victory, and later in the day the championship as they edged past us overall on percentage.

Well done to all the boys who played on the day.

Senior Girls Cricket,

Last Thursday, 15 of the finest senior girls cricketers McKinnon has to offer played a unique 10/10 style game of cricket at McKinnon Reserve. Batting first, Pitsy started strong and after a full innings, the girls had reached 167 runs. Bowling highlight has to go to Cassie Semple's 3/0. Yes a 3 wicket maiden over which catapulted the McKinnon girls to a comfortable 70 run victory. Here's hoping the ladies can keep up the good work in the next division!

Cheers
