Year 11 Music Night

On the evening of Thursday 23rd October our twenty-two Year 11 VCE musicians hosted the biannual Year 11 Music Night concert. This  concert is a celebration of the students’ talents and ongoing hard work throughout the year.

The Alan Lawrence Lecture Theatre began to fill as a large and eager audience of family, friends and staff congregated inside. Courtesy of McKinnon’s dedicated audio and visual crew, the transformed theatre looked impressive resembling more of a concert hall than a school theatre.

The impressive trend was echoed as the night unfolded. Opening the concert with a whole class rendition of Lonely Boy by the Black Keys, the class showcased their mature musicianship and cohesiveness as a group. A wide diversity of music followed with solo performances, ensemble performances, band performances, with styles ranging from classical to contemporary. The standard of performance was exceptionally high and a great night was had by all. To conclude this celebration of Year 11 music at McKinnon, the whole class once again took the stage. This time they performed a class arranged of September by Earth, Wind and Fire. What a great night!
