General Assembly 3/8/2015

The assembly was opened with a performance by the Ovenden Band. The Ovenden band which was conducted by Tracey Videon, performed the national anthem with soloist Emily Holding. The Ovenden Band then performed a piece titled 'Due North' by Michael Sweeney.

The 2015 Senior School Captains, Allira Lignos and Matt Mahoney led the assembly.

Mrs Binnion then took to the stage to present the motivational Principals address.


The Chair of the Council of International Schools, Mr Terry Hamilton then made an address to the school in regards to what the CIS will be conducting at the school this week.



Mr Kamener then announced the Language perfect achievements and top award for students and teachers.

As well, Mr Cukierman then presented the 2015 DAV interschool debating program awards.

Mr Hughes presented certificates for the recent Global Citizenship definition activity.

Other presentations included the Sport presentations including the state cross country presented by Monash House captains, Hannah Cole and Ashrey Annavarapu. A special congratulations to Melina Ayers who received the Pierre De Coubertin award for her sporting achievements at the MCG.

There were also an array of visual presentations including the McKinonn Model UN presentation and the 2015 french exchange student farewell movie.

Our Spanish visitors Mrs Marta Pena and Mr Jesus Checa from our sister school in Cuenca Spain were welcomed to the stage to talk about their time in Australia.They are here with two students as well, Andrea Figueroa and Jorge Martinez.

Mr Bridges then talked about his recent trip to Cambodia as part of the teachers fellowship.

The House Captains of Monash, Hannah Cole and Ashrey Annavarapu were then welcomed back to the stage to promote the upcoming athletic sports day.

The assembly was then concluded by Mr Evans.
