On Wednesday the 16th of March, McKinnon celebrated Pi Day with our annual Pi Reciting Competition.

We had class champions from all Mathematics classes battle it out to recite as many decimal places of the irrational number pi as they could to determine overall year level champions.

Our year level champions were as follows:
In year 7, Dylan Macgregor from Flynn who recited 93 places.
In year 8, Harry Fletcher from Gilmore who was the year level champion in 2015 recited 54 more places of Pi with 136 places this year.
In year 9, Marina Ueda from Gilmore recited 123 places.
In year 10, Braydon Ross from Monash recited 269 places, beating last years record of 168 places.
In year 11, Kira Brooks from Monash recited 39 places.
In year 12, Dani Benedykt from Chisholm who recited 57 places.

We also had staff competing this year, our staff champion is Miss Felmingham who recited 102 places of Pi.

House points were awarded for participation on the day. Congratulations to Monash for winning the most points and contributing 490 points towards the McKinnon House Cup for 2016.

Congratulations to all participants. Thank you to all who helped out and came along on the day.

We look forward to Pi Day next year!
