Senior Music Concert

On May 19th, McKinnon’s most experienced musicians gathered in the hall to present the first of our ensemble concerts for 2016.

It was a very busy night for some individual student performers as well as being a very enjoyable and entertaining evening for an enthusiastic audience. The varied program included performances from many of the school’s senior performing ensembles.

Opening the concert was the Symphony Orchestra splendidly conducted by Tracy Videon. Our other groups performing were: the Symphonic Wind Band, conducted by Su Rogerson with guest appearance from Head of Music, Martin West; Flute Choir, conducted by Bernadette Russo; the String Quartet directed by Clare Bugeja and the Senior Singers, directed by Blanka West.

The concert also featured two very talented VCE soloists: Jessica Earls on xylophone and Matt Simos on vibraphone. The Senior Stage Band, directed by Dmitry Serebrianik presented a dynamic set to close the evening.

It was a wonderfully musical night celebrating some multi-talented performers and some excellent ensemble playing.
